Defender flourished under Alonso in Leverkusen. The 24-year-old scored his only goal of the season in a 3-0 win against FC Bayern in the DFB Cup final against Düsseldorf on Wednesday. The Croatian international could have continued to work under the Spaniard in Munich. But Alonso will not follow him, which apparently displeases him. “Well, I’m glad he’s happy here. Of course it's a bit of a shame for me. Maybe I was hoping for a different outcome,” says the defender.
