AC Ajaccio, Troyes and Angers will all go down to Ligue 2. The last four of the elite are automatically relegated this season.

Nantes and Auxerre, respectively 17th and 16th, will go down unless Strasbourg or Brest are caught on the gong. It remains to be seen who will accompany these three clubs in the lower echelon of French football. The league will increase from 20 to 18 clubs from next season, with the exception of Ligue 1, which will stay at 20.
