Marseille supporters' buses were attacked on the A47 near Saint-Étienne. A source close to the investigation said the attack was probably from a bridge over the motorway.
It is one of too many episodes of the kind which have punctuated the last months of French football. In November and January, fans were attacked from outside their vehicles after matches in Montpellier and Paris. In February, a stone attack targeted the Nice supporters' bus, which was traveling from a meeting in Lyon, injuring one of the supporters.
