Lionel Messi signed for Inter Miami in the summer of 2013. Jorge Mas is co-owner of the Florida franchise with David Beckham.
Messi has several unique clauses in his contract with the club. Mas hopes that Messi's recruitment will allow MLS to grow and be viable. Revenues have already doubled for Miami since Messi's arrival in the U.S. in July 2013, generating nearly $118 million in the first half of the season. Messi is under contract until 2025 with an additional year as an option.
