The Italian, double reigning world champion, won the Qatar Grand Prix on Sunday, the first round of the MotoGP season, on his Ducati. He beat the South African Brad Binder (KTM) and the Spaniard Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) Six-time world champion Marc Marquez finished just off the podium for his first GP on Ducati-Gresini.

He is the reigning vice-champion of the Italian team. Bagnaia is the first Italian to win back-to-back MotoGP titles since Valentino Rossi in 2007 and 2008.
