Frenchman Gaël Monfils beat Argentina's Mikael Baez 7-5, 7-6, 3-6 in the 1st round of the French Open. The 36-year-old had been suffering from cramps and was on the brink of elimination.

Paul Quétin, coordinator of the physical preparation of the FFT, explains the Frenchman's extraordinary performance. "Gaël would have made an incredible 400m runner. He's a super complete athlete," says Quetin.
