Elina Svitolina beat Daria Kasatkina 6-4, 7-6 (7/5) in the French Open quarterfinals. The two players did not shake hands late in the match.

Pro-LGBT, KasatKina has repeatedly taken a stand against Putin's Russia-led war in Ukraine, and accepts that Ukrainian women do not greet Russians or Belarusians. The day before, for example, Svitoline had chosen not to shake hands with the Russian Anna Blinkova, simply raising her thumb in her direction.
