World No. 1 Novak Djokovic lost in three sets to Holger Rune.

The Serbian stopped in the quarterfinals of the Masters 1000 of Rome. Rune won his second consecutive victory against the Serb, after the final in Paris in November. Carlos Alcaraz beat Fábián Marozsán (135th in the world) to reach the final. For the first time since 2004, neither Nadal nor Djokova will be in the final of the Rome Masters.
