Rudi Völler will remain DFB sports director until the 2026 World Cup. As sports director, he should lead the DFB to the home European Championship in 2024.
The 63-year-old has been sports director since February 2023 and works primarily for the German national team. The DFB announced on its website that the contract will run until April 8, 2024, with an option to extend it until 2026. The contract is worth an estimated $1.5 million a year.
