Max Eberl (Managing Director RB Leipzig) is the preferred candidate. Markus Krösche (sporting director Eintracht Frankfurt) would be an alternative. Michael Reschke (Head of European Football CAA) – the interim sporting director – is also in the running for the job. FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer has already announced "a great caliber" as his successor.
