Ukrainian Vladyslav Bukhov crowned world champion in the 50m freestyle. 21-year-old expressed his disagreement with the reinstatement of Russian and Belarusian athletes at the Paris Olympics.
Bukhov won in 21 sec 45/100th, a hundredth ahead of the defending champion, Australian Cameron McEvoy. The British Benjamin Proud, world distance champion in 2022, took bronze (21 sec 53). “I just did the job and I’m happy with the result. It’s a good result,.” he said.
