The ATP is testing new rules for doubles tournaments. The new rules will be tested in Madrid in April and during the 2024 season.
The players will be subject to new rules intended to reduce the duration of matches. Instead of having 25 seconds between two points, the server will only have fifteen if the previous point gave rise to less than four exchanges. The server will recover the 25 seconds currently in force if the point has reached or exceeded four trades. Likewise, players will not be allowed to consistently sit down every other game.
