Caroline Garcia beat Coco Gauff 6-3, 6-2 in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami. The Frenchwoman will face Sorana Cirstea (24th) or Danielle Collins (53rd) for a place in the quarter-finals.
It is the first time Garcia has passed three rounds of a tournament since Beijing in October 2023. Garcia has won two previous matches against Gauff, at the US Open 2022 and WTA Masters the same season.
