Encountering animals during a solo round-the-world trip is always a special moment for sailors cut off from the world even if communications with land are frequent. “Seeing an animal is always moving, especially encounters with whales,” says a sailor who has been on a solo trip around the world. ‘I was very happy to see a bird. It was a very pleasant moment.’
