A 15-year-old Berlin teenager who was seriously injured by a player from French club Metz has died, German police say. The 16- year-old boy suspected of fatally beating him remains in custody, Frankfurt police said.

The deceased teenager, who is part of the German team JFC Berlin, had been kept alive artificially so that he could donate his organs. The tournament in which both young people participated hosted teams from 16 different countries, most of them European. The suspect is part. of one of Metz's training programs, which plays in the second division.
