Éric and Sylvie Monceret are amateur paleontologists from Carcassonne. They have just uncovered a world-class site, in Cabrières, in Hérault.

As for the animals they come to flush out, they died five hundred million years ago, at a time when life could only be marine. The pair are fossil hunters. They are from a winegrowers' village in the Montagne Noire, an hour and a half away.
