Apple released an update for the iPhone - and opens the "closed garden" in Europe - voila! technology. Apple allows apps to be downloaded outside the official store in the European Union, alongside other innovations including many new emojis.

Until now, Apple required all developers to distribute their apps through its app store, charging a 30% commission on each in-app purchase. Now, following the new law, developers in the EU will be able to offer their own app stores and distribute apps through them.
