NASA has selected three companies to develop a lunar terrain vehicle. The vehicle will transport astronauts to the South Pole of the Moon.

It will be used for the Artemis 5 mission, planned for the end of the decade. The total value of the combined contracts for the development of this vehicle should ultimately not exceed $4.6 billion, according to NASA. The winning company will be able to provide its transport service for ten years, possibly by sending several rovers successively. The NASA contract also leaves the possibility of using the vehicle for the use of private customers, for example interested in lunar resources.
