Giant fire in Gironde in 2022: dismissal required due to failure to identify a person responsible. In mid-February, the Bordeaux public prosecutor requested a definitive dismissal of the investigation.
The investigation did not make it possible to identify the author(s) of the start of the fire in Landiras on July 12. For ten days, the flames burned more than 20,000 ha of vegetation, caused by arid weather. The investigation may be reopened in the event of new evidence or testimony until the end of the limitation period, which is twenty years.
