A 36-year-old man was sentenced to 18 months in prison for spying on his ex-wife using an AirTag. The man, a truck driver, was convicted by the Bordeaux criminal court for “violation of the privacy of private life’ The man had already been convicted of hiding an Air tag in his former partner's coat, in order to track her movements.

The AirTag was linked to his telephone number and to an email address in his name. A psychiatric assessment revealed “significant jealousy linked to paranoia” in the personality of the accused.
