An employee of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich discreetly hung one of his works during an exhibition. The 51-year-old man, who worked in the museum's technical department and described himself as an independent artist, hoped that this action would allow him to break into the art world.

The painting was quickly spotted by museum staff, but it nevertheless remained on display all day. After seeing the two holes in the gallery wall, the museum filed a criminal complaint for intentional property damage. The museum also indicated that it had terminated its employee's contract and prohibited him from accessing its premises. It would not comment further on this story or the style of the painting because it could "encourage pranksters," a museum spokesperson said. The police are now investigating a minor offense, property damage caused by the fifty-year old. The Bavarian art museum is one of Europe's largest museums dedicated to modern and contemporary art, architecture and design. It is made up of four museums under one roof.
