The intelligence of future BMWs will also develop in India. BMW is finalizing a joint venture with Tata (the Indian giant which among other things owns Jaguar Land Rover) The two companies plan to set up several digital technology centers using existing hubs in Bangalore and Pune.

The new JV will use Tata's digital engineering expertise and talent pool in India to help expand BMW's software coding capabilities. The project will be managed by Tata Technologies, which is a global automotive and industrial consultancy giant present in 27 countries with over 12 thousand employees.
