Sami Michael, former president of the Association for Civil Rights, passed away. Michael won many awards and titles, including the Christian Andersen Award for children's and youth literature.

One of his most successful writings is the novel "Trumpet in Wadi" which was published in 1987 and is being adapted into a play. Michael worked in Israel for decades in the hydrological service of the Ministry of Agriculture. He was married for many years to a teacher, Malka Michael, who founded the Romema school in Haifa.
