Because of manslaughter a foster father from the North Rhine-Westphalian Plettenberg was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment. The judges of the Hagen jury court were convinced of the guilt of the defendant.
According to this, the man was said to have violently shaken the one-year-old boy on 2 January and hit him with a vacuum cleaner tube. The severely injured child had been taken to a hospital by the foster parents, but then died as a result of severe brain injuries.
First, both foster parents were arrested. The suspicion against the mother was not confirmed. The father had admitted in the process of shaking the child. He could not remember any further attacks.
