In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the fire department had to extinguish two fires after lightning strikes. This was reported by the police Rostock. In Bresegard the roof of a thatched timbered house caught fire. The vacant building was burned to the ground. The damage is estimated at 130,000 euros.
In Weitendorf near Laage, a single-family house caught fire. One person was taken to hospital with suspected smoke poisoning.
According to NDR 1, Schwerin Castle lost 60 to 80 liters of rain per square meter within a very short time - more than in a month. The "Schwerin People's Daily" ran according to numerous cellars, apartments and shops full.
Also in Rostock it is said to have given dozens of firefighter operations. Already on Tuesday there had been heavy thunderstorms there.
According to the fire department, rainwater had to be pumped out of buildings and street accommodation in Hamburg. Emergency personnel removed branches and treetops from lanes, cars, and houses that had fallen down due to rain and wind.
