Magdeburg district court sentenced a woman to three and a half years in prison after killing an old man and collecting his pension for years. She was convicted of fraud. A manslaughter case against her was dropped.
At the beginning of the process, the 62-year-old had admitted to have attacked the 1920-born man in his house in the Harz Rieder with a knife and slain with two axons. The act in Saxony-Anhalt should already have been in 1995 - but the time is not proven even after the end of the process.
After the death of the man, she cashed his pension and so absorbed between 2004 and 2015 almost 105,000 euros.
The woman worked at the time of the crime as a domestic help for her neighbors. She claimed to have acted out of fear of rape. The chamber around the presiding judge ruled that the woman acted in self-defense. Even because of lack of assistance, there could be no conviction, because the act was time barred.
The body of the pensioner had buried the woman in the basement of his house in Rieder in Saxony-Anhalt. It was not until 2016 that the pensioner's death had been noticed and the skeleton recovered.
