In an interview, Kirsten Dunst recently said she was not recognized by her industry. Now she had a great honor - and tears flowed.

Kirsten Dunst now has a star on Hollywood's "Walk of Fame" - and one senses that it gives her satisfaction. She was overwhelmed, says the actress. Several photos show how she wipes the tears from her face.

In an interview a few days before the ceremony, the 37-year-old had said: "I was never recognized by my industry." She had never been nominated for anything, her films had been panned. "Sometimes I say to myself: It would be nice to be appreciated by my peers."

That's what happened - and how. The unveiling of the star plaque was also directed by Sofia Coppola. She met Dunst when she brought the 16-year-old young star to the camera for her movie "The Virgin Suicides." Dunst was her most trusted co-worker and like a little sister to her.

Dunst's fiancé Jesse Plemons also spoke. He described her as a brilliant actress and called her an "incredibly generous and great person."

The actress brought her family to the party. With her German father Klaus Dunst, mother Inez Rupprecht, the younger brother Christian and her fiance Plemons she posed on the star plaque. Her son Ennis was allowed to crawl on the star during his first Hollywood appearance.

15 months ago, Dunst and Plemons had become parents. The couple had met while shooting the second season of the television series "Fargo" in which they played a couple.

Dunst was born in 1982 in the US state of New Jersey. Her father, who still has relatives in Hamburg, has been living in the USA for decades. Since 2011, the actress also has German citizenship.

On the side of Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise Dunst had her first major film appearance at the age of twelve in "Interview with a Vampire". The teenage comedy "Girls United" from the year 2000 was a blockbuster. As Peter Parker's friend Mary Jane Watson in the "Spider-Man" trilogy, she finally became world famous.
