Merkel disturbs the heterogeneous unit, which makes it clear that the funny term "old white men" is nothing more than humor of the angry. A term used by all younger or middle-aged men or those with more melanin in their skin, not in common. This alone shows: generalizations like these do not help at all.
The lowest common denominator as the expression of a complicated time: the Nazis, the left, the right, the old, the boys, we here, the others up there, we down there or the other way around. Maybe all those categorizations that I sometimes use are nothing but bullshit that dilutes the core of what it's all about: those who believe in the system and the others.
The system - devised, invented, perverted by men - always rewarded the winners. The strong, Toughen, with more muscle, more legacy, more penis. This system, which also produced miracles such as Madame Curie, Robert Koch, the Brontë sisters. That always, almost always, was anti-social, disadvantaged the weaker, invented colonialism, witch burning and moon landings.
But above all, the world is set up for men. Of men. Not by old white men, but simply by men, healthy heterosexuals, fighting among themselves, killing, exploiting, despising, but uniting to defend their supremacy. Even in the poorest areas of the world.
The global, male system
Take two areas that I know. In the slums of Bangladesh or Calcutta there is still someone standing among the poor men. It is the women and the children, the gays, the weak and the sick. That is what has made our world what it is now: a place of unrestrained masculine imbecility, burning forests, denying climate change for profit, promoting populists to make even more profit.
So it's too easy to rant against old white men, even if it's funny. The problem is much bigger. It is the global male system based on exploitation, power and fraternization. And it reaches into every corner of our existence. It defines our chances: the likelihood of dying earlier and the likelihood of being raped. The system states that women's labor is less valued than men's, and that the birth of a child deprives women in almost all cases.
So when we talk about participation or equality, which is almost never achieved worldwide, that is not enough. Because it means that we want to participate in a system that has not proven itself. A system that always says something better than democracy and capitalism is not available. That's right.
We should not dawdle
And yet there are many new ways of thinking: designating a bourgeoisie by lot, direct democracy in the communities, repatriation of social property to citizens, employee involvement in business, new ecological models, and much more, which are the basis of newer, more up-to-date, fairer systems can.
It's a big job that can not be mastered by playing groups of people against each other. But on the contrary. It is now time to find allies. In existing political systems, in the family, in local government, in science.
We only have a short life. Too bad to disguise it and hope that somehow everything will be fine. It will not be anymore. The system failed.
