Fallen cars, truncated power lines, roofs covered: Hurricane "Dorian" has caused massive damage in the Bahamas - now it loses a little bit of force.

Hurricane Dorian rages in the Bahamas. The hurricane sweeps over the archipelago at wind speeds in excess of 200 kilometers per hour and could have destroyed or damaged more than 13,000 homes, according to the Red Cross.

Dorian hit the Bahamas as a level five hurricane on the five-point Saffir Simpson scale, but recently lost speed and was downgraded to category four.

The hurricane is predicted to move towards the US East Coast, where more than one million people in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia had to leave their homes as ordered by the authorities. About ten German tourists of the tour operator Tui had already been flown out of the Bahamas on Saturday as a precautionary measure.

Estimates of the number of victims of the cyclone are not available. The "Bahamas Press" reported on Twitter that a seven-year-old boy had drowned in the northern Bahamas. Prime Minister Hubert Minnis spoke of a deadly "monster storm" and "unprecedented destruction" on the Bahamian-owned Abaco Islands.
