At around 60 meters high, about 25 people got stuck in an observation deck of a Franconian amusement park on Tuesday. A helicopter was used to rescue the people in the park in Geiselwind (Kitzingen district), a fire spokesman said on Tuesday evening. A child who refused, according to the information, was finally roped off by a height rescuer. No one was injured, as a police spokeswoman said in the evening.
At around 4:30 pm, according to the park, the platform had stopped in the air. For initially unexplained reasons, the ride with the name "Top of the World" switched to the fault mode. The gondola could not be lowered, as the fire department spokesman said. Therefore, height rescuers had come to the gondola and secured them. Then people were individually brought on a rope in the helicopter. Most visitors were safe after 7 pm.
The ride will be closed on Wednesday. The TÜV will look for the cause of the fault, it was said by the operator. The Lower Franconian "Leisure Land Geiselwind" is one of the most famous amusement parks in Bavaria.
