Three internal service employees of the parcel service DHL are said to have stolen valuables from dozens of parcels at a delivery center in Cologne. They stole mobile phones, wristwatches, women's handbags from luxury brands, coin collections, sports shoes and designer items, police and prosecutors said.
The liability damage therefore amounts to at least 120,000 euros. Almost 200 packages have been opened by the men in 2018 in changing constellation. According to the investigators, they stole valuables from at least 75 and then forwarded the packages with incomplete content.
The police had been alerted by DHL to the irregularities, which led to extensive investigations, which eventually led to the search of the apartments of the suspects. The three men aged 56, 55 and 32 were prosecuted for joint and commercial theft.
In addition, proceedings were opened for suspicion of suspicion of family members and acquaintances, which should have been considered by the three main suspects with the stolen goods. The three employees were meanwhile dismissed by DHL, said a police spokesman. About the case had first reported the "Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger".
