A few days ago, the Berlin Zoo was happy about the birth of two panda babies. Now, another hope for animal offspring has come to a sudden end.
"Our same-sex King Penguin couple has finished the breeding of his egg, but on 2 September the egg burst and was not fertilized," tweeted the zoo. Below was a picture of the king penguins. "Surely the two will in the future get the opportunity to become parents again."

- Zoo Tierpark Berlin (@zooberlin) September 5, 2019The penguins Skipper and Ping, who had moved from Hamburg's Tierpark Hagenbeck to Berlin in April, had taken care of the egg of a conspecific.
Last year, two penguin masters had become parents at the Sydney Zoo. When Sphen and Magic built a nest together at the beginning of the breeding season, zoo employees put a strange egg inside the two. On 19 October 2018 "Baby Sphengic" was born.
In Berlin, the joy of new offspring is nevertheless great: Panda Lady Meng Meng had born on August 31, two young - the first Panda offspring in a German zoo. It is still too early to say if it is male or female. Panda offspring is born very immature.
