Priyanka Chopra explains why she was not with the VMAs

Priyanka Chopra was not on the side of husband Nick Jonas at the MTV Video Music Awards. Now she explained why.

The picture caused quite a stir at the MTV Video Music Awards: The Jonas Brothers had just won the Best Pop Video Award, Sophie Turner was hugging husband Joe, Danielle Jonas was kissing her sweetheart Kevin - and Nick? He stood between his brothers and looked a bit helpless from the laundry. Because his wife Priyanka Chopra was missing at the event. But the actress did not have a better idea, as she told "Entertainment Tonight".

"I was sick that day," she said. The evening should actually have something special: "It should be this fun night in which we all six get together." The brothers and their wives all had "crazy schedules", so they did not make such meetings often. Then Chopra felt very uncomfortable.

"I think Nick felt really bad that he was there and I was not feeling well," said Chopra. She followed the event from the couch and felt as if she had abandoned her husband. At that moment, she apparently came up with an idea: she photoshopped herself into the recording of the moment of the announcement of the win. Then Chopra released her on Instagram with the comment "I'm always with you, Nick Jonas."

That's why they love technology, said the 37-year-old now. It does not matter if she's been there or not, she joked: The picture makes it look like it was her and "the Internet" believe it.

The relationship of the couple obviously did not hurt the small incident. In an interview with Indian Vogue, Chopra said what's on her to-do list for the future: "buy a house and have a baby."
