In an explosion in a multiple dwelling in Dusseldorf, a man died early Wednesday morning. Rescue workers found his body around 2:30 in front of a flat on the second floor of the house in the district of Flingern, as the fire department announced. Two other residents, including a pregnant woman, were taken to the hospital with flue gas poisoning.
The force of the detonation burst all the windows of the apartment on the second floor. Even cars across the street were damaged by broken glass.
The cause of the explosion is still unclear, the prosecution determined. The total damage the fire department estimated at around 100,000 euros.
Only on Monday evening a 77-year-old patient had died in a fire in the Marienhospital in the district of Pempelfort in Düsseldorf. Again, the cause of the fire is still unclear.
