Syria participates in the International Olympics of Mathematics Engineering

DAMASCUS, (SANA) - Students from Syria and about 60 countries will compete on Friday at the Iran International Olympics

Students from Syria and about 60 countries will compete on Friday at Iran's International Mathematics Engineering Olympiad.

The online test for the participants will be conducted in each country at the same time for four consecutive hours and includes high engineering issues, according to a statement from the Excellence and Innovation Authority, a copy of which was received by SANA.

In the Olympics, Syria is represented by 146 students distributed among four geographic centers, namely, the Faculty of Civil Engineering at Damascus University for participants from Damascus and its countryside, Daraa, Sweida and Quneitra, and the Faculty of Science at Al-Baath University for participants from the provinces of “Homs, Hama and Raqqa” and the Faculty of Science at the University of Aleppo for participants from “Aleppo” governorates. Deir Ezzor and Al-Hasakah ”and the National Center of Excellence for Tishreen University for participants from Lattakia and Tartous governorates.

The participants are divided into four age groups: the beginner level for the seventh and eighth grades, the average for the ninth and tenth grades, the advanced for the second and third grades, and the free level for the undergraduate and age group.

The Commission clarified that the correction of the answer papers will be carried out by the Central Scientific Committee in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad. The best 4 results in each category are approved and sent to the organizing committee of the international competition with the qualifiers from the other participating countries.

The Syrian teams finished the season of their participation in the World Olympics for 2019, achieving the broadest achievement in their record, where they culminated in all their contributions: mathematics, chemistry, biology and informatics with a silver medal, 7 bronze medals and 3 certificates of appreciation.
