At the age of 15, Iris Berben first appeared in front of the camera as the only protagonist of the experimental film "Noch und Nöcher". The film lasted two and a half minutes, Iris Berben's career now lasts 54 years.
"I have delivered, I like and also delivered well," said the 69-year-old in conversation with Barbara Schöneberger in the show "With the waffles of a woman". Today she is in her life exactly where she wanted to go. It had never been the focus of her life and work plan. "I also missed it," the actress admitted.
Age does not bring many benefits, Berben said to Schöneberger. But it offers a decisive advantage: freedom. For Berben, this is "the freedom to decide against something, the freedom to refuse to participate."
Against what exactly she will be able to decide, Berben does not necessarily want to know: "I do not even know what I'm doing the day after tomorrow". To accept and deal with life is exciting for her, said the actress.
In that sense, she could have imagined a completely different profession, the 69-year-old said: "I would have liked to be a cook."
