In an accident at the train station in Neuwied (Rhineland-Palatinate), two men have lost their lives. They were captured by a freight train. Both are said to have listened to the federal police spokesman Stefan Döhn a bowling club.
A 75-year-old had probably crashed on Friday afternoon on the tracks, a 65-year-old man had wanted to save him. Then both were seized despite an emergency stop by the train. Supposedly, alcohol played a role. "It's a more than tragic accident," said Döhn.
"About five to ten travelers were at the platform, they are mentally cared for," the spokesman said. The affected driver suffered a shock. The right bank of the Rhine remained closed until the evening, because the dead could not be recovered initially. There were significant disruptions to train traffic.
