Syria participates in the International Olympics of Mathematics Engineering

With the participation of Syria and about 60 countries, the Iranian International Olympics for Mathematics Engineering was held today at the same time for four and a half hours continuously through the Internet, each team in their country through tests with high issues in engineering.

In the Olympics, 146 students were distributed among four geographic centers, namely, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Damascus University, for participants from Damascus and its countryside, Daraa, Sweida, Quneitra, and the Faculty of Science, Al-Baath University, for participants from Homs, Hama, Raqqa, and the Faculty of Science, Aleppo University. Tishreen for participants from Lattakia and Tartous governorates.

SANA kept up with the tests at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Damascus, where the director of the media office in the Excellence and Creativity Authority, Malek Hammoud, explained that the participants were distributed in four age groups, namely the beginner level for the seventh and eighth grades, the average for the ninth and tenth grades .. And the free level of the university and ages over twenty years.

Hammoud pointed out that the correction of the answer sheets is carried out by the Central Scientific Committee in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad and adopts the best 4 results in each category to send to the organizing committee of the international competition to compete with the qualifiers from the other participating countries.

According to Imran Quba, head of the Scientific Committee for the Syrian Scientific Olympiad, the questions of mathematics include five questions, each of which has eight degrees, which are answered in writing, pointing out that participation along with 60 other countries gives Syrian students a chance to compare the level of knowledge and performance of them and others and create room for competition. To improve scientific levels and capabilities and achieve better results in the future.

The student Yaman Najib pointed out that the questions were suitable for applicants ranging difficult, indicating that he is participating in the math specialty for the first time in order to enter the experiment and gain experience in the way of preparation and answer to the next participants in order to reach global participation and achieve the gold medal and raise the name of Syria high in international forums.

In turn, the two students Lynn and Julie Ahmed that participation is a necessary step to develop skills and raise the capacity to think and endure throughout the hours of tests and prove the ability of Syria in the scientific fields before the countries of the world.

Both students Khaled Al Masri and Alaa Khaddour said that the questions need to be thoughtful and focused and that the Olympics is an opportunity to test their intelligence and achieve more scientific successes nationally and globally, pointing to the relaxed atmosphere provided during the tests.

The students, Ahmed Sarhan and Mohammed Bakkar, stressed that the questions require time, effort and a high level of concentration and include issues in engineering.

In Lattakia, the director of the National Center of Excellence at Tishreen University, Dr. Muthanna al-Qebili told SANA that the center hosted 12 students from Lattakia and Tartous governorates to participate in the tests.

In Aleppo, the Dean of the Faculty of Science at the University of Aleppo Dr. Rakan Barhoum said that the number of students who participated in the college to take the exams was 26, indicating that a comfortable atmosphere was provided to ensure the smooth running of the tests. And students' energies and support competencies and talents.

In Homs, 12 students from the governorates of Homs, Hama and Raqqa went to the Olympics tests. Mohammad Rasool Al-Hashemi, the supervisor of the tests, told SANA that in cooperation with the Baath University, the exams were secured.

The Syrian teams finished the season of their participation in the World Olympics for 2019, achieving the broadest achievement in their record, where they culminated in all their contributions: mathematics, chemistry, biology and informatics with a silver medal, 7 bronze medals and 3 certificates of appreciation.
