Hofgeismar in Hesse: mother and son dead after quarrel

The investigators assume a family tragedy: Two people died in the Hofgeismar in Hesse, a 62-year-old came to the hospital with serious injuries. What's open is who attacked whom.



An argument in a family in Hesse has escalated brutally. In Hofgeismar, a 60-year-old and her 32-year-old son died. The husband and father (62) of the two fatalities is seriously injured and at last still in mortal danger. He had to be operated on according to the "Hessian Lower Saxony General".

"We currently assume that it is a family tragedy," said a spokesman for the police in Kassel. To motive and expiry of the act, the investigators initially made no statements.

It is still unclear who injured whom. "But there is no evidence that other people have been involved in the dispute," the police said. Father, mother and son would have lived together in a single-family home. Criminal police and forensics examined the crime scene.

The police had been summoned to the house on Friday morning. It was reported "disputes out of the family", it was said. Who made exactly the call, but according to the current status of the investigation is still open.

Investigators found traces of "sharp violence"

When the officers arrived, the three family members were seriously injured. The 60-year-old woman died on the spot. The rescuers could not help her anymore. Father and son were taken to hospitals. One of them was transported by rescue helicopter. The son had died of his injuries in the clinic.

The investigation was difficult, because no party could be heard. However, there are injuries due to "sharp violence", a murder weapon could be a knife, for example. Firearms were not used according to the current state of the investigation.
