One week after the fatal car accident with an SUV in Berlin, the driver's home has been searched by the police and prosecutors. This was announced by a spokeswoman for the prosecution.
Accordingly, the search was done last Friday. "Evidence has been secured and it needs to be evaluated now," the spokeswoman said. The "Bild" newspaper had previously reported on it.
According to the prosecution, the search is related to a passenger saying after the accident that the driver had an epileptic seizure at the wheel. However, the police can not see in the man's medical record because the file is subject to a so-called ban on confiscation because of medical confidentiality.
The driver being prosecuted for negligent homicide could release the file. So far he has not done that.

On September 6, the car had strayed off the road at an intersection in Berlin over the opposite lane. The SUV rammed a traffic light, drove several people on the sidewalk and broke through a construction fence. Two young men, an elderly woman and a three-year-old boy were killed.
The incident triggered a discussion about SUVs in inner cities.
