In Central America, there has been a large-scale power outage. The whole of Honduras and parts of Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala were affected, as the head of the Honduran electricity supplier ENEE, Leonardo Deras, announced. After two hours, the Honduran authorities saw the power supply as restored, as the portal "Univision" reported.
The reason for the failure was apparently a fault in the regional interconnector, as the state utility Nicaraguas, Enatrel, communicated. Media reported chaos in traffic due to the failure of traffic lights. At first, there were no reports of injuries.
After a few hours, there was an all-clear from Honduras and Nicaragua in the afternoon - the power supply was largely restored. In Guatemala and El Salvador, according to the electricity market administrators of both countries, the failure was remedied after about one hour each.
