After "Friends" Warner's new streaming provider has the rights to the next successful sitcom worried: For "The Big Bang Theory" HBO Max reportedly spent $ 600 million.

When HBO Max hits the market in the spring of 2020, it will have a well-stocked platform. At least that was the wish of Warner's new streaming portal. It seems to be coming true: HBO Max now secured the exclusive rights of the sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" for the American market. Five years, the provider is to offer all seasons of the popular series to the nerdigen scientists in California. Report industry media such as "Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety".

How much money Warner had to put exactly on the table, is not known exactly. "Variety" speaks of $ 600 million.

By comparison, just a few weeks ago, it was announced that the new streaming provider has also secured the rights to the sitcom "Friends" - for about 425 million US dollars, as the "Hollywood Reporter" reported. Previously, Netflix spent about $ 100 million a year on the series. The fact that the six New Yorker friends Netflix such an amount were worth, indirectly also indicates that the series, which ended in 2004, was extremely successfully streamed.

The same applies to "Big Bang Theory", which was previously also in the competitor Netflix in the program and was also produced by Warner. The final of the Nerd-sitcom was in May in the USA, in Germany the end of the series is broadcast by ProSieben.

Recently HBO Max made headlines to have ordered a new season of the series "Gossip Girl". In ten episodes, the series will again report on the lives of teenagers in New York. HBO Max wants to start in the spring with its own statement with entertainment content in the scope of 10,000 hours. The Group has also secured the rights to the series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" and "Pretty Little Liars". Announced are also two series with the "Big Bang" actress Kaley Cuoco and Anna Kendrick.
