If you want to travel by train in northern Germany on Wednesday morning, you should bring with you patience - or at the same time switch to another means of transport. After the damage caused by a storm on several routes, passengers have to make even on Wednesday for train losses.
"The long-distance trains between Hanover and Bremen will be largely canceled," said a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn. Also on the route between Hamburg and Hanover it could come to restrictions. "We recommend that passengers inform themselves about their connection before they travel."
Reason for the failures and delays are among other repair work. In addition, many trains and train employees had not arrived due to the problems of the previous evening, where they should have started their service in the morning. This could affect the start of operations on regional connections.

Because of the storm damage on several railways 200 travelers were stranded in Hannover and spent the night to Wednesday in trains. The German railway has provided for two ICEs with a total of 1400 seats available, said a spokesman for the company.
Also in Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe and Hamburg were trains for passengers to stay overnight. They were not used.
In addition, 300 people were waiting for hours in an ICE at Nienburg because of a catenary damage on the way to Hamburg. Towards 23 o'clock the train coming to Switzerland from Chur was partly evacuated to Hamburg. 150 people were driven to Hanover with three buses. The remaining passengers had to wait two and a half hours on the train for the onward journey.

The group had climbed on a dune, according to the fire department on Tuesday in the east of the island and had dropped off an emergency call. The flood was significantly higher than normal due to a storm in the North Sea. A rescue helicopter took the tourists on board and brought them back to a parking lot.
