In Bocholt in Münsterland, an 81-year-old female driver has strayed off the road for unknown reasons and got onto the sidewalk with her car. The car caught a 61-year-old woman and her two-year-old granddaughter, the police said. Accordingly, the girl was mortally wounded and taken to a hospital with a rescue helicopter.
The grandmother got away with minor injuries. The driver suffered a shock. Emergency counselors had to look after the parents of the toddler at the scene of the accident. The prosecution commissioned an expert to investigate the cause of the accident.
