2019-09-22T21:07:35.179Z

The crash of a gyrocopter near a community in the Westerwald has killed two men. The aircraft had previously apparently collided with a power line.

In Oberlahr, Rhineland-Palatinate, two people were killed in the crash of a so-called gyrocopter. That is what the police said.

Accordingly, it came on early Sunday evening to the accident, even a power line was damaged. This has led to a power failure.

As the SWR reports, citing eyewitnesses, the gyrocopter collided with the pipeline and subsequently fell into a small river. The police did not confirm the procedure according to dpa at first. Employees of the Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident Investigation were sent to the scene of the crash, it said.

Gyroplanes are similar in appearance to helicopters, but they work differently. The buoyancy arises in them by forward movement, the rotor of Gyrocopter has - unlike helicopters - no own engine.
