58-year-old climber crashes from via ferrata on the pulpit wall to the death

In Oberstdorf, a mountaineer from Baden-Württemberg has fallen to his death. The 58-year-old slipped in the Allgäu Alps on a via ferrata on the Kanzelwand and fell into the depths.



During a mountain hike on the Kanzelwand between Austria and Germany, a 58-year-old man from Baden-Württemberg has been fatally injured. On the challenging two-country via ferrata the man slipped and fell 150 meters into the depth, as the police announced.

How it came to the crash on Sunday afternoon, is still being determined. The man was on the climbing route together with a friend.

The body of the victim was discovered during the subsequent search by the Austrian air rescue and salvaged by a police helicopter from Bavaria.
