After an accident with four trucks has leaked on the A2 nitric acid. The highway will be closed at least until the morning.

On the A2 between Peine and Braunschweig-Watenbüttel nothing works for the time being: Since Tuesday morning, the section is blocked in both directions, as several media including the NDR and the "Peiner Nachrichten" report. In the morning, according to the NDR report, the road to Hanover is to be released again. The route to Berlin will probably remain closed until the afternoon.

The reason for the closure is an accident of four trucks - among them a dangerous goods van. From this, nitric acid escaped after the collision. In the following congestion, there were further accidents and massive traffic obstructions.

According to the police, one of the truck drivers is the cause of the accident. According to initial findings, the 48-year-old missed a traffic jam, bumped into the standing dangerous goods van and pushed this into two more trucks. The 62-year-old driver of the acid transport and the accident cause came to the hospital with serious injuries.
