Erlangen in Bavaria: Fatal accident - Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann provides first aid

A murder suspect on the run, a prominent first responders: In Franconia, there has been a fatal accident on the highway - is still puzzling.



On the A3 in Franconian Erlangen, one person died after an accident, two people were seriously injured. According to the Middle Franconian police, three vehicles were involved, the exact course had to be clarified.

Bavaria's Interior Minister saw the accident - and provided first aid, as he said the German Press Agency. Earlier, the "Bild" newspaper reported.

He had been on his way to an appointment with a company car on Sunday, Herrmann said. Then he saw another car hurled between the trees on the highway and left lying among the trees. He had instructed his driver to stop, and immediately dialed the emergency call.

He then went to the car with another driver. "It was obvious that people there must certainly be seriously injured," said Herrmann. "We pulled a woman out of the car and put her on the lawn." For the man, however, any help came too late, this would have probably been dead immediately.

Only later did it turn out that a participant in the accident is also suspected of murder. "Nordbayern.de" and the "Bild" newspaper report that it is a TV veterinarian. He is said to have killed his 76-year-old mother-in-law shortly before in Borchen near Paderborn and then fled.

Arrested at the hotel

The car was also damaged in the accident according to the "Bild" newspaper and came to a halt on the shoulder. According to police, the wife of the suspect, who was traveling with him in the car, got off after the accident, ran over the highway, crossed the central bus bar and was finally hit by a vehicle in the opposite lane. The woman came seriously injured to a hospital. Herrmann had nothing to do with the couple's first aid.

The man suspected of murder left the scene of the accident. His name appeared after the accident in the nationwide system of police, in the night of Monday, special forces arrested the suspect in a hotel near Nuremberg. There he was loud police to be near the clinic in which his wife was treated.

A judge then ruled on Tuesday to take the suspect into custody. Whether the woman was involved in the crime is unclear - the police in North Rhine-Westphalia wanted to give no information.
