Between dirt and scrap cars, the subcontractor of a mortician in Brandenburg to have kept dead. The prosecution has examined the case, but it is probably not a criminal offense.

Residents gave the crucial hint: In Brandenburg, an old car workshop was obviously used as an interim storage for corpses. This was confirmed by a public spokeswoman, previously the "Märkische Oderzeitung" reported.

Neighbors were noticed according to the spokeswoman Bestattungswagen with license plates from Eisenhüttenstadt and Königs Wusterhausen. In the decommissioned workshop coffins and cold storage cells stood between the scrap cars and the dirt. In it were kept dead, according to the newspaper report, there were eight. The number did not want to confirm the spokeswoman, she said only that there had been several. The "Märkische Oderzeitung" reports.

According to prosecutors, there is no initial suspicion of a crime. A disturbance of the dead rest is only given if, for example, a corpse is removed from the circle of the claimants or a grave is violated. Both things are not correct: The subcontractor got the order from a mortician to transport the bodies.

Only an administrative offense

Instead, an administrative offense comes into consideration, the procedure runs in the district of Oder-Spree. Why the subcontractor stored the bodies in the workshop is unclear, the spokesman for the district Oder-Spree left a request unanswered.

According to the newspaper, there had been a similar case in the Berlin-Brandenburg region in 2015. At that time several coffins with corpses were found in the cold room of a former supermarket in Wandlitz north of Berlin. A mortician had housed her there.
