An attack with consequences: The Augsburg football professional Caiuby has been convicted of personal injury to a large fine. It is not the first misconduct of the athlete.

The Bundesliga professional Caiuby is due to pay a personal injury 49,500 euros. In the view of the Augsburg district court, the 31-year-old had a head thrust after a nightly disco tour with friends, the victim was seriously injured. According to the "Augsburger Allgemeine" the punishment consists of 165 daily rates of 300 Euro each.

The court emphasized in its judgment that several witnesses credibly described the act of May 2018. The relief witnesses from the circle of acquaintances of the Brazilian player, however, were not credible.

The prosecution had demanded according to the newspaper report 75,000 euros fine, the defense pleaded for acquittal. The victim had suffered a concussion and a zygomatic bump and was five days unfit for work, it said in the report.

Caiuby left the court after the verdict with his lawyer without comment. It is unclear whether he will accept the sentence or appeal.

Without a ticket on the way

It is not the first time that the professional has legal trouble: Last fall, the offensive player was sentenced to a fine of 22,500 euros, because he had driven without a ticket train. The sum had been calculated from 30 daily rates of 750 euros each.

The professional has a contract with the Augsburg Bundesliga club until the summer of 2020, but currently does not play. According to recent information from the FCA management, the Brazilian has no chance of comeback at the club due to misconduct.
